4 posts · Joined 2020. #1 · Nov 1, 2020. I am attempting to determine a manufacturing date on a 22 long rifle Sportster model 25. It has 3121 stamped on it. I was able to find that it is a Sears 25 Hi Standards A1042 I believe. It is bolt action with a 5 ammo clip.

Found this cool info to determine age of marlin/glenfield rifles made in 1973 and newer models. Mine was serial number 270---61. According to the link, you take the first two digits and subtract from 100 to get your year of manufacture. In my case, it turned out to be 1973!!!

In searching another rimfire forum I think the answer is for rifles made after 2000 the first two digits of the serial number are subtracted from 2100 to fine the date, making my rifle a 2003 manufacture (last year made). The rifle is a 1894ss in 44 mag. Serial no. starts with 98 (no letters) and it is barrel stamped Ilion, NY. There are no JM nor REP stamps anywhere on the barrel.
