I had this recently with one franchise save where Chase wouldn't start and I couldn't sub him in either. It only lasted the first game of the season then he was just magically there week 2. You can play around with it as long as you don't beat them to death with high intensity practice cause then you will not have your starters on the field in the playoffs.
